Schools Shine at District Battle of the Books Competition

February 28, 2012 - G.R. Whitfield School won the 21st annual District Middle School Battle of the Book competition last week for the third consecutive year. 

 

The team will now move on to the regional tournament that will be held on March 16 in Currituck County.  Members of the G.R. Whitfield team are Rand Chandler, Haley Dixon, Haylee Dixon, Lindsey Gautier, Hannah Martin, William Bryce McKeel, and Hannah Rostar.  They are coached by Katherine Toriello and Jennifer Martin.

·         C.M. Eppes Middle- 130

Battle of the Books is a middle school competition with a game-like format.  It consists of teams competing against each other by answering questions about 27 books they have read during the school year.  Books are critically acclaimed and selected by a state committee of librarians. The games consist of rounds of 12 questions with two schools facing off for points.
