What is Zscaler?

Zscaler is a web filter designed to protect users from malware, viruses, advanced and persistent threats, as well as questionable or inappropriate websites. The security features scan and filter network traffic as it passes to and from the internet. Zscaler is also capable of providing differentiated access for different groups of users (i.e. teachers, principals, students,...). When a user attempts to access a website that has not been categorized by Zscaler as purely educational, Zscaler will request the user to login to determine if they are allowed to access the site.  Below are instructions on how to login to Zscaler.

NETFLIX & HULU   Why are they blocked

Netflix and Hulu are paid services that stream copyrighted videos over the Internet.  The user agreements for both services include the text "for your personal and non-commercial use only"  and therefore cannot legally be used in the classroom.
