CogAT Support Materials

In the spring, all third graders in Pitt County Schools will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The CogAT measures your child’s reasoning and problem-solving skills in three areas: verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal. This is a nationally normed aptitude test that will compare your child’s performance with the performances of other students of the same age. This test is used to help determine AIG (Academically or Intellectually Gifted) identification and plays an important role in a student qualifying for AIG services in 4th grade.
