PCS Closed For Students, Optional Workday For Staff On Thursday-Friday (Feb. 5-6)

Pitt County Schools will be closed for all students with an optional workday in place for staff on Thursday and Friday (February 5-6), due to the imminent threat of continued hazardous road conditions across the district's transportation area as a result of a forecasted approach of another winter weather system.

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, based on the latest briefing from the National Weather Service and in consultation with Pitt County Emergency Management. While main routes have been serviced, many of the secondary roads in our county remain unsafe for buses and teenage drivers.

Key Closures and Cancellations:
Schools: Pitt County Schools campuses are closed to students on Thursday and Friday (Feb. 5-6); an optional workday is in place for staff. Pitt County Schools' offices, schools, and facilities will open tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. This will allow road conditions to be assessed after tonight's weather event.

Programs: Before and Afterschool Care Programs, and Pre-K Programs are closed.
