OSI Impacts & Results
OSI has over 10 years of documented programatic impact on teachers and students in Pitt County Schools. Program impacts are provided from multiple sources, all available via links on the side. OSI personnel have served as presenters at national presentations and authors for regional and national publications. A selected listed of publications is available here.
Additionally, from 2016-2024 PCS contracted with external evaluators to conduct third-party evaluation reports for key programs, including our Advanced Teaching Role (ATR) program and other leadership development programs. Links to all evaluations are in the menu on the left side of the screen.
Beyond formal third-party evaluation reports, all CoPs (Communities of Practice) annually produce reports regarding their progress and impact. From 2018-2021 those reports were published as LiveBinders, and beginning with the 2011-2022 school year, those reports were published internally. Links to all CoP reports are listed below.
The following reports/articles written by outside agencies provide additional information and highlights for the work of PCS in areas over which OSI is responsible:
- Bridging the Gap: Sustained & Intensive PD (2018) – This white paper, published by the Frontline Institute, examines the professional learning practices of districts across the nation in regards to how well they align to the definition of professional learning established by the Elementary and Secondary Schools Act (ESSA). Pitt County Schools is provided as an exemplar district in a case-study.
- Pitt County Schools: A Situational Leadership® Success Story (2018)– This article was published by the Center for Leadership Studies in their monthly client newsletter and highlights some of the ways in which PCS is using the Situational Leadership model across the system.
- Teacher Vacancies Hard to Fill in ENC (2018) – This article, written by Valerie Crowder with NPR’s Public Radio East, examined the difficulties that districts in Eastern NC have in filling vacancies and highlights some of the steps Pitt County Schools is taking through the R3 initiative.
- TIF Grantee Spotlight (2017) – Seth Brown and Thomas Feller, were interviewed in Washington, DC in the summer of 2017. The video showcases Pitt County’s efforts to Recruit, Retain, and Reward highly-effective educators here in the district.
