Advanced Teaching Roles
OSI oversees PCS's Advanced Teaching Role (ATR) program, and the program consists of three primary strands: Expanding Excellence Teachers, Communities of Practice (CoPs) led by Facilitating Teachers, and Communities of Teaching (CoTs) led by Multi-Classroom Teachers. While EETs are evaluated based on the standard NCEES rubric, both FTs and MCTs have supplemental evaluation rubrics to guide their growth and performance.
Expanding Excellence Teachers (EET)
The EET role is designed to reward highly-effective teachers in 4th or 5th grade with a $3,000 annual supplement who expand their influence by taking on an increased class load (at least 20% more than their grade-level peers). EETs focus on implementing excellent instruction as they produce exceptional student returns.
Communities of Practice (CoP)
CoPs are groups of 4-5 teachers led by Facilitating Teachers (FT)s. A CoP is a very specific group at the school responsible to complete a collaborative inquiry project around an identified instructional priority of practice. The priority of practice is identified in collaboration between school leadership and the CoP. Members of the CoP include the Facilitating Teacher, who earns a $5,000 annual supplement, and the Collaborating Teachers, who each earn a $1,000 annual supplement. Communities of Teaching (CoT)
CoTs consists of 3-4 teachers who all work under the mentorship of a Multi-Classroom Teacher (MCT). MCTs, as master teachers co-teach with each of their Co-Teachers, apprenticing them in the art and science of highly effective instruction. Each of the Co-Teachers has a customized and differentiated support provided by the MCT, aligned to individualized growth goals. MCTs receive a $10,000 annual supplement in exchange for taking on the responsibilities of leading these CoTs.
