Bethel, South Central Honored with CKH "Rising Star" Distinction
Pitt County Schools is proud to announce that Bethel School and South Central High School have been recognized as Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) Rising Star campuses, marking a significant milestone in their commitment to fostering student-centered environments.
The CKH Rising Star status is awarded to schools in their first year of implementing the Capturing Kids’ Hearts process and demonstrates a school’s dedication to building relational connections, improving school culture and advancing social-emotional learning. This achievement highlights the schools’ success in creating a positive and engaging atmosphere for students and staff.
This recognition comes on the heels of two other Pitt County Schools - Falkland and Lakeforest Elementary - being named Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools, an honor reserved for campuses that demonstrate exemplary outcomes and sustained excellence in the CKH process. The journey from Rising Star to National Showcase School is rigorous, requiring measurable improvement in areas such as campus culture, student connectedness and discipline rates.
The Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, developed by the Flippen Group, is a nationally recognized initiative that equips educators with tools and strategies to build trust, empathy and respect within school communities. Schools earning the Rising Star designation are celebrated for their early and impactful adoption of these practices.
As Bethel and South Central celebrate this accomplishment, PCS remains committed to expanding student-centered initiatives and supporting all campuses in their pursuit of educational excellence.
