WINTERVILLE - North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper visited South Central High School on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Governor Cooper was greeted by Principal Janarde Cannon and Superintendent Dr. Ethan Lenker, who led the Governor on a tour of several classrooms so that he could observe high quality teaching and learning firsthand. His tour included visits to the Adobe Suites class of teacher David Tripp, the Construction Technology class of teacher Stephen Allen, an Art class of teacher Ira Varney, and an overview of the school's Innovation Lab. During his tour, the Governor had the opportunity to speak with several students about their experiences in their classes and observe the tremendous talent that our teachers foster in our students.
Governor Cooper also had the opportunity to meet with several teachers for a closed-door roundtable discussion about current issues in the field of education in our state. Participants included teachers Jennifer Bryan, Jeanette Darden, Anita Koen, Ann Marie Medhi, Marcus Pate, and Lauren Piner.
Many thanks to all of the students and staff of South Central High School who represented both the school and the entire district so very well!
