Principals and Facilities Employees Announced


Administrative Changes Announced

Pitt County Schools announces administrative changes at Falkland Elementary School and South Greenville Elementary School.

Ms. Ferdonia Stewart, current principal at Falkland, has been named Principal of South Greenville Elementary, while Mr. Anthony Perkins, of Elizabeth City- Pasquotank County Schools has been named Principal of Falkland Elementary.

Ferdonia Stewart earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s of School Administration from North Carolina Central University. Ms. Stewart has 28 years in education, serving as a classroom teacher and school administrator. She has worked as an administrator at Ayden Middle, Chicod, Sadie Salter, Ridgewood and Falkland. Ms. Stewart notes that she is thankful for her time at Falkland Elementary and has worked with an awesome staff and community.

"South Greenville Elementary is bursting with great potential to far exceed expectations, overcome obstacles, and blaze a new trail to make a great impact in our community and beyond,” says Stewart. “As I join the South Greenville Family, I am personally challenged, inspired and motivated to grow our school by growing every child."

PCS Superintendent, Dr. Ethan Lenker, says, “Ms. Stewart’s leadership skills have proven to be effective instructionally. She has shown that she can build relationships and get schools working together in a short amount of time. She is a perfect fit for South Greenville Elementary School.”

Mr. Anthony Perkins holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wingate University. Mr. Perkins has 16 years of experience in education, serving as a teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal.  

“I am excited about the opportunity to build on Falkland's current success,” says Perkins. “I look forward to doing a lot of listening and talking with students, families, and staff to gain a better understanding of the community. I believe transparency and trust are critical components of effective communication. Building long-lasting relationships will help to build a positive culture that will better serve the needs of our students and staff.”

“Mr. Perkins’ experiences have shown that he has a unique ability to develop relationships with students, teachers, parents and a school community as a whole,” says Dr. Lenker. “Falkland has made great strides, and I believe Mr. Perkins has proven that his ability to work with students will mesh nicely with our Restart model at Falkland.”

Ms. Stewart and Mr. Perkins are slated to begin their new positions on January 2, 2019. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming them both to their new roles.


Facility Services Announces New Promotions

Pitt County Schools Facility Services is happy to announce the promotion of two new employees to our district office of Facility Services. Mr. Cedric Blow of Sam D. Bundy School in Farmville and Mr. Reginald Stocks of Ayden Middle School will be joining the staff of Custodial Services at PCS Facility Services beginning December 3, 2018. Their responsibilities include coordinating system-wide custodial services, developing and conducting training sessions for custodians in proper cleaning methods, equipment use, chemical use, response to emergency situations and troubleshooting facility issues. Stocks and Blow will also be testing and recommending materials, cleaning chemicals and equipment for custodial use. Finally, the two will inspect schools for cleanliness and assist head custodians in ordering and maintaining materials as well as assist principals with the scheduling and hiring of custodial staff.

Mike Whitford, Safety Coordinator at Facility Services says, “We are excited to have Cedric and Reginald join us in their new roles. After years of supervising and working in top-level clean schools, both individuals now have the opportunity to help all of our school improve.”
