2026-27 School Reassignment

School choice through PCS reassignment can be requested for the following reasons:

  • Open enrollment from the approved PCS Board of Education Open Enrollment list
  • Sibling enrolled at a non-open enrollment school 
    • Sibling in a district-placed exceptional children’s classroom
    • Sibling already enrolled in a non-open enrollment school
  • Parent/guardian is a full-time PCS Employee: Applies only to schools within the attendance feeder pattern at which the parent/guardian is employed.
  • Hardship or special circumstances
  • Curriculum availability

School reassignment is available to students currently enrolled in Pitt County Schools and to those enrolling in Pitt County Schools for the first time. 

Current PCS Students

  • Reassignment request windows are as follows:
    • April 1 - June 30
    • The last five days of the first semester
    • Once request is received, student services has up to ten days to process the request

Students Enrolling in PCS for the first time 

  • Reassignment request windows are as follows:
    • Opens April 1st
    • Closes during the last five days of:
      • The 3rd reporting period (grades kindergarten - 8th)
      • The 5th six-week grading period (grades 9 - 12)
    • Once a request is received, student services has up to ten days to process the request

NOTE: Grade levels at schools may close once capacity is reached. This list will be updated with any changes to availability.

Approval or denial notification for reassignment requests will be sent to the email address used to complete the form within ten calendar days.
