Dual Language Program
-
We are pleased to offer a dual language program to all rising Kindergarten students who live in the Belvoir Elementary School district, as well as any rising Kindergarten students in Pitt County. In the 2021-2022 school year, we will have 2 classes K-5th grade, in the dual language program which will accommodate up to 48 students per grade level. Students who live within the district boundaries will be given first priority for participation in this program.
Students participating in the program will be taught the same Common Core Standards as students in traditional kindergarten and first grade classes. Those who are in the dual language program will receive that instruction in both Spanish and English, allowing them to learn a second language while simultaneously learning the kindergarten and first grade curriculum. The higher order thinking processes involved in learning through two languages enhances students' proficiency at learning new skills and provides life-long benefits. If you are interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity, please access the materials and information on this site. In addition, we will have multiple information sessions for parents in the near future and we invite you attend one of those sessions. In the meantime, please contact me or Mr. Randy Meisenhelder, Assistant Principal, if you have any questions.
Sincerely,Deirdre Ingram
Principal, Belvoir Elementary
