Please see the below important documents for more information on P-EBT. The Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) provides a benefit on an EBT card to North Carolina families whose children have access to free and reduced lunch at school. The P-EBT program is a collaboration between the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and is intended to help families during school closures.
Since we are a CEP School all of our students will receive P-EBT cards.

  • Weekly Updates

Please visit this site frequently for updates on how COVID-19 is impacting school.

    May 14 Update:

    Weekly Updates:

Families should be receiving or will receive a call between now and next week about grading. Each teacher is calling and/or emailing students/parents to discuss grades for their courses. Students were sent an email last week about the option choices for grading. This information is also posted on the Pitt County Schools Facebook page and PCS website.

Technology and textbook drop off at IECHS will be Monday-Wednesday, May 18-20. All school and ECU textbooks must be brought back to IECHS. This includes computers for 24/7 users. Students were emailed information about how to sign up to drop off materials. Students can use the form emailed to them or call the school to set up their drop off appointment time.

Please note that IECHS will continue to begin the 2020-2021 school year before PCS traditional schools. We are working with PCS to determine the exact start date for school. Once we get this information we will let families know.

For our rising 10th graders please note that Ms.  Putney will be in touch with you to discuss your courses for the 2020-2021 school year. Students should continue to check their emails for the registration forms.

Great news! Have questions about the Pandemic Electronic Balance Transfer (P-EBT) assistance provided to many of our students? Call 211 or go to They are now staffed to help answer your specific questions.

    Have a good evening.

    May 5 Update:

Parents Please Note This Important Message:
PCS has just announced that Early Colleges will end remote learning on May 8th and traditional schools will end remote learning on May 22.
Our students should be looking out for a message from their teachers tomorrow that will address how courses will wrap up the end of the school year.
We still do not have any word on when IECHS will begin school next year (if we will begin early or not). Once we receive more guidance we will let families know.
IECHS will still remain in close contact with students after May 8th. We will continue our Student Weekly Memo and our counselor will continue to make phone calls to students regarding registration, grades and wellness check ups.
Please be on the look out for details on how we will have students return textbooks and technology devices (including 24/7 users) that were borrowed from the school.
We miss our students and hope we will get to see them very soon!

    May 3 Update:

    Good evening IECHS Families,

This is Mrs. James with your weekly updates.

Our students continue to shine! They are working hard and engaging in learning during these difficult times. We are so proud of their efforts.

This week is teacher appreciation week. Please take a few minutes to send your child's teacher a positive note. They have worked tirelessly this year to ensure that all of our students grow and learn. A positive message from their students and parents would mean so much to each teacher right now.

Please check in with your child to ensure they have or will be completing their ECU exams. ECU exams started on April 30 and will be ended this week.

This Monday from 6:00-7:00 Ms. Putney will be hosting a school-wide student Zoom Meeting. Students should check their emails for more details.

Within the next few weeks we will be getting in touch with each of our students and families to discuss student grades. At this time we are await more guidance from NCDPI about how to proceed. As soon as we get more information about the grading process we will reach out to our families.

Don't forget to encourage your student to check their email for the student weekly memo. There are some chances to win free books this week!

Congratulations to our legends of the week: C’yonni B., Daisy Y., Jesus J., Jaelynn C., Kayla B., Remy F.

We hope everyone continues to stay healthy and safe!
    Have a great evening!

    April 27 Update:

On April 24, Governor Cooper announced that North Carolina school buildings will remain closed while remote instruction will continue for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Following state recommendations, we will continue remote learning for all students.

Please know that we are heartbroken that we will not get to see our students face-to-face again at IECHS this school year. We miss our students and can’t wait to see them again next school year. Keep in mind that your child might be feeling a range of emotions at this time as well. Some students are ready to come back to school and the news of the school building remaining closed is hard to hear. If your child is struggling, please encourage them to reach out to our school counselor Ms. Putney. She is available to help during this transition.

Last week NCDPI and the General Assembly released grading recommendations. PCS is meeting with principals and directors, this week, to discuss this information and will await implementation guidance from DPI. We will have more information on this policy and how it will impact our students soon. In the meantime, please continue to encourage your child to their best on their remote learning.

Tonight Ms. Putney will be hosting a VIRTUAL ZOOM CHAT from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM for all students. Students can log on through the Zoom link that was emailed to them by Ms. Putney. The purpose of this chat is for students to get together, see each other and just chat. We encourage all students to attend!

Please remember that Pitt County Schools will continue meal services. Please visit the PCS webpage for more details about meal delivery services.

The Student Weekly Memo was sent on Sunday. Please encourage your child to check their email and read the memo. There are opportunities to win gift cards and books this week!

Please know that we miss being at school, but we are committed to doing our best during remote learning. If there is anything we can do to help your child or family, please reach out to the school.

We wish everyone great health and hope each of you stays safe.

    Have a good evening.

    April 20 Update:

IECHS students are doing well with the transition to remote learning. We are very proud of our student’s efforts and their continuous desire to learn and grow. Please make sure to check in with your child to ensure we are meeting their needs during this time. If they need anything, please be sure to reach out to the school.

This Friday is a teacher workday. Students will have the day off from doing remote learning. Please encourage them to relax and practice self-care!

This week is National Administrative Professionals Week. Please take a few minutes to thank Ms. Val for all of her hard work at IECHS. She is very instrumental in helping us maintain a safe, efficient, effective, and joyful school.

Please continue to check our Facebook page for resources and opportunities for Pitt County families. We post information about food resources, mental health resources, and other important information. If you know of any information that you think would be beneficial for our families to know please email that to Mrs. James. She will be sure to share the information.

Please remind your child to check the Student Weekly Memo that was emailed to them on Sunday. This weekly memo has lots of important and interesting information.

Our Legends of the week are: Chrishera G., Macy S., Katelynn H., Lauren W.

    Have a great week!
    Be well and stay safe.
