Ayden Grifton High School
Home of the Chargers
Ayden Grifton High School opened in the fall of 1971, uniting students from the neighboring towns of Ayden and Grifton. The new school consolidated the existing Ayden High School, South Ayden High School and Grifton High Schools. Ayden Grifton is one of six high schools within the Pitt County School District.
Located in southern Pitt County, Ayden Grifton High School serves grades 9-12. Our school community consists of 725 students and 45 faculty members, many of whom are AGHS alumni. We operate on a 4 period block schedule with 2 semesters per year. We are a small school with big pride! Our philosophy is that we will help each student to develop mentally, culturally, physically, emotionally, and socially so that they may become productive citizens in our democratic society.
In our focus to produce graduates that are college and career ready, Ayden Grifton High school offers a wide range of rigorous courses in all subject areas. Students may pursue classes in the sciences, mathematics, the humanities, business, visual arts, performing arts, as well as online classes offered through NC Virtual Public School Lab. Students may also take advanced placement courses and dual enrollment college courses in partnership with Pitt Community College.
