  • This is a Grifton School update for the week of June 14th.

    Grifton Mission Ministries Food and Hot Meal Distribution
    *Food and Meal distribution every Monday and Thursday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
    *During the month of June, they will also be distributing milk to individuals and groups in need. 

    Summer Office Hours
    *Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

    Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Registration! 
    *A child who is 4 years old by August 31st may register for Pre-Kindergarten. 
    *A child who is 5 years old by August 31st may register for Kindergarten.

    To register your child, please bring the following information:
    1.  Proof of age (certified birth certificate or other document approved by the principal)
    2.  Court order for guardianship (if student is living with someone other than the parent)
    3.  Proof of residency (two documents)
    4.  Immunizations/shot record and NC Health Assessment Transmittal Form

    Kindergarten registration forms can be found at the link below.  You can complete the forms and email them to Mrs. Wells or drop off the forms at the office during our regular office hours (Monday through Thursday 7:30-5:30).  Please contact Mrs. Lauren Wells at if you have any questions.

    Lunch Service
    *Lunch and the next day’s breakfast is available for any child ages 1 to 18 and/or is enrolled in Pitt County Schools. 
    *There is no lunch pick up from Grifton School.  Additional bus stops have been added so students can continue to receive meals.  Bus stop information can be found on the Pitt County Schools website:
    *Bus service will continue until June 26th.

    *The first day of school will be Monday August 17th.

    Temporary Front Door and Office Relocation
    *Contractors have begun building our school’s secure corridor at the front of the school.  This will provide another layer of security for our students and staff when everyone returns! 
    *The temporary entrance to the building is the outer door at the 300 wing.  This is the entrance we use for afternoon car riders near the playground. 
    *The office is temporarily located in the media center. 
    *Since there is not an intercom at the temporary entrance, please call the school when you arrive (252-524-5141)

    Our Principal

    Kevin Smith received his bachelor’s degree in History Education, followed by a Master of School Administration and Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration, all through East Carolina University.  He has experience in the field of education as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, all of which have been in the service of the students of Pitt County Schools.
