• Ridgewood's Battle of the Books team is a highly competitive team made up of excellent 4th and 5th grade readers.  Students interested in trying out for the team begin the process as soon as the list is released by the North Carolina School Library Association each March. Practices are held in the media center before school.  
     
    Students read each of the books on the list and answer questions during practice.  During December, the final team is selected from those who qualify.  Practices continue until the Pitt County Competition.  The winning team from Pitt County advances to regionals.
