In order to be considered for induction and/or to maintain membership in NTHS, students must:
- Have completed 2 courses in a program area
- Be a member of the CTSO from which they are being nominated
Complete a minimum of 10 service points per year:

- Leadership Conferences – 2 pts.
- Regional Conferences – 3 pts.
- State Conferences – 5 pts.
- National Conferences – 10 pts.
- Other CTSO activities – 1 pt. for every 2 hours of service
- Pay a one-time $30 admittance fee
- Have an 85 or higher average of all CTE courses taken
- Have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Be nominated by a CTE teacher
- Maintain continued involvement in the CTSO
Students may qualify for NTHS after the 1st semester of their sophomore year.
