Welcome to the Media Center

With over 12,000 items in our collection, the Creekside Media Center offers students a wealth of information through books and technology. Through Media Center programming, students learn digital literacy, information literacy, and language arts skills.
Book fairs, author visits, family events, and special programs are all designed to foster a lifelong love of learning for our students. Some events and programs offered through the Media Center include Battle of the Books, MakerSpace, Student Advisory Group, Hour of Code, and the School Spelling Bee.

About the Staff

Creekside Media Coordinator Katie Richardson joined the Creekside staff this year. She has been a Media Coordinator for eighteen years and has also taught 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media in addition to maintaining her K-6 Elementary Education teaching licensure. She is currently a member of the District Media and Technology Advisory Council, The District Media Steering Committee, as well as the Superintendent's Advisory Council. She has a special interest in blending literacy and STEM activities to create design thinking experiences for her Ki-2 classes. Katie is originally from Alexandria, Virginia but has lived in North Carolina since she graduated from college. She has been married to Staton for seventeen years and they share life with their sweet dog, Ruby. Katie attended East Carolina University and UNC. She loves the NY Yankees, family visits, gardening, going on adventures, music, kayaking and reading.
