    Through Media Center programming, students learn digital literacy, information literacy, and language arts skills.

    Creekside Library Media Center Mission Statement

    Every day our goal is to provide our students the skills needed to locate and critically evaluate information, to support readers in finding the right book at the right time and to provide an outstanding collection of print materials that motivate every learner to develop natural inquiry and a love of reading.

    Our vision is to provide each learner with the tools needed to develop a wider and deeper perspective and understanding of the curriculum, their interests, their community and their place and purpose in our world.

About the Staff

  • Creekside Media Coordinator Katie Richardson joined the Creekside staff in 2019. She has been a Media Coordinator for 20 years and has also taught 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media in addition to maintaining her K-6 Elementary Education teaching licensure. She is currently a member of the District Media and Technology Advisory Council, The District Media Steering Committee, as well as the Superintendent's Advisory Council. She has a special interest in blending literacy and STEM activities to create design thinking experiences for her Ki-2 classes.  Katie is originally from Alexandria, Virginia but has lived in North Carolina since she graduated from college. She has been married to Staton for 20 years and they share life with their sweet dog, Ruby. Katie attended East Carolina University and UNC. She loves the NY Yankees, family visits, gardening, going on adventures, music, kayaking and reading.
