Farmville Central High School
Home of the Jaguars
Farmville Central serves nearly 800 students in grades 9-12 with a mission of growing excellence every day by embracing innovation to prepare students to lead in a rapidly changing global society.
The Farmville community embraces the mission of Farmville Central. Since opening its doors in 1971, the home of the Jaguars has been the heart of the Farmville community where it is common to find town officials and former students returning to support academic and athletic endeavors.
FCHS students have a wide array of academic opportunities. They include opportunities for students to pursue dual enrollment with Pitt Community College. Students can attend classes on Pitt Community's main campus in Winterville, the satellite campus in Farmville, or on Farmville Central's campus daily. In conjunction with Pitt Community the Career and College Promise allows FCHS students to earn college credit for courses that will transfer seamlessly to North Carolina Colleges and Universities tuition free. Students can also pursue Advance Placement courses to earn college credit.
FCHS students also have the option to take courses online through North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) or through Pitt County Virtual Academy (PCVA). Through these options, FCHS students have access to courses that may not be offered face-to-face at FCHS. Students also have the ability to take online courses through PCC. The option to take online classes provides greater flexibility in student scheduling and opens further opportunities to explore classes that interest them.
Farmville also offers AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) classes in the elementary, middle, and high schools. FCHS AVID students focus on college readiness while increasing rigor in their course selections.
FCHS students can be involved in clubs and organizations that promote academic and altruistic growth among members. Some of the opportunities include Link Crew, HOSA, FBLA, FCCLA, SAVE, Green Jags, Dance, Drama, Band, and Book Wars.
Farmville Central's students also achieve great success in athletic endeavors. Students are engaged in football, cross country, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, swimming, winter and spring track, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and softball.
These opportunities are paired with a compassionate staff whose goal is to see students become successful members of the community. With that combination, students leave FCHS prepared to continue to grow academically, professionally, and personally.
