Student Illness Letter

Dear Parents:
This is the time of year when we experience an increase of illnesses in our schools. While we can never totally prevent illnesses, we are asking for your assistance in limiting the spread of infection in the schools by taking proper precautions.
Please do not send your student to school if any of the following are present:
Fever of 100.0 degrees or above: Student is excluded from school. Student should be fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medications (such as Tylenol) before returning to school.
Vomiting or diarrhea: Student is excluded from school. Student should be free from vomiting or diarrhea for 12 to 24 hours before returning to school
Persistent cough
Sore throat
Body aches
Inability to participate in daily activities at school due to illness/feeling bad
The number one defense against the spread of illness is HAND WASHING. Please encourage your student to wash his/her hands often – especially after toilet visits and before handling food. Use soap and warm water when possible. The alcohol-based hand sanitizers may not be as effective against the virus causing “stomach bug/virus”.
It is also important for the student who becomes ill at school to be picked up immediately. Please make sure the school has your current contact numbers and the number of an alternate, designated person, in case you cannot be reached.
If your child is unable to drink enough fluids to stay hydrated, complains of severe sore throat, has continued coughing, or fever along with tiredness, aches and pains, call your healthcare provider. It may be necessary for your child to be seen for treatment.

5th Grade's Weather Station
In the spring of 2018, Mrs. Katy Shafer received a grant from CenturyLink which included a weather station for our school. Fifth grade spends an entire nine weeks on weather, so this weather station allows students to see real-time data of our actual location. Students across fifth grade will utilize this station for data collection and analysis of weather patterns as they prepare for the Science EOG.CenturyLink provides grant opportunities annually for teachers integrating technology in the classroom. Spirit Wear Guidelines
Parents and Families of Wintergreen Primary and Intermediate students: Please be aware students may only wear SCHOOL APPROVED spirit wear that has been purchased through the PE department at either school. Students may NOT wear clothing made at home as spirit wear attire.
