    PCMSAC 2020-2021 UPDATE

     

    The Pitt County Middle School Conference has approved the start of Spring Sports, with tryouts starting March 1st, 2021 (weather permitting). Spring sports include Baseball, Softball and Soccer.

    -All participants must wear a facemask during tryouts, practices and games. The mask may NOT be "gator" style mask. 

    -Players will be expected to find transportation to the school for all scheduled tryouts, practices and games

    ELIGIBILITY FOR MARCH START DATE

     

    In order to be eligible for athletics beginning in March, a student must pass 5 out of 6 classes during the first semester with a 60, or above. It is important that both face-to-face and virtual students complete all assignments for all core classes, as well as their encore classes. See the link below for all eligibility requirements. 

    Virtual students can still participate in athletics as long as they are enrolled in the school and are academically eligible. Virtual students and those that are not face-to-face during a given week, must provide their own transportation to attend daily practices.

     SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR 2020-2021

    Due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in school closures, a one year emergency additon to the State Board of Education Policy. ATHL-001, Intersholcastic Athletics, was approved by the State Board of Education on April 23, 2020. 
     
    If you are not sure when your athlete's physical was signed by a licensed physician, contact Coach Kirby or Coach Best for that information. 
    Please use the guide below to determine if your athlete needs a physical for the 2020-2021 school year. 
     
     
     
    If the DATE of the student's CURRENT PHYSICAL was signed by the doctor.....   
                        
     
    -Prior to 3/1/19 - The student will need a valid, up-to-date physical prior to participating.
     
     
    -On or after 3/1/19 through 5/1/20 - The student is granted a temporary extension to participate through the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.
     
     
    -On or after 5/2/20 - The student will participate under the current policy of being "valid for 395 days"
     

    Physical forms are available in the school’s main office or students may see Coach Kirby or Coach Best to get one.

    GATE & GATE FEES 

    For the 2020-2021 year, Due to COVID-19, ONLY the "HOME team" will be allowed spectators for indoor events. The number of spectators is not to exceed 25. Parents of athletes should see the Athletic Director for more information. 

    Gate fees for ALL middle school sports are as follows:

    Adults (high school age and up): $5

    Students (K-8th grade): $3

    All scrimmages: $3
