    Tryout Schedule:
     
    If you are arriving from off campus, be sure to check in with the coach for COVID pre-screening each day
     
    Monday, March 1st 3:15-5:15 - ALL GRADES
    Tuesday, March 2nd 3:15-5:15 - ALL GRADES; CUTS WILL BE MADE AND POSTED
    Wednesday, March 3rd 3:15-5:15 - FIRST TEAM PRACTICE & PARENT MEETING TO FOLLOW (Approx. 5:30pm) in the gym.
     
    IF a scheduled tryout is cancelled due to inclement weather/wet fields, the coach will communicate those changes through email. Athletes should be prepared for indoor or outdoor tryouts (bring sneakers).
     
     
     
     
    Sports Physicals are required to try out for the team. Physical forms MUST be on the NCHSAA form and should be completed, in its entirety, before turning in to Coach Kirby. "Well Child" visits are NOT accepted.
    Please turn in physical forms as soon as possible so they can be processed prior to tryouts. Anyone without a sports physical on the appropriate forms will not be able to try out. 
     
    A printable version of this year's physical form can be found below. Hard copies are also available at the front desk or students may pick one up from Coach Kirby
     
     
    Initial COVID-19 Screening Forms are required to try out for the team this year. This form should be completed and turned in just prior to tryouts. A photocopy or scanned copy may be emailed to Coach Kirby no earlier than 3 days before tryouts. This will ensure your child is safe to be around others during tryouts.

    May 19, 2021
    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for finishing the season strong with the 5-0 win over Ayden. Leading the team's offense was Ava Gaddis (1-2, and scoring once).  Brinley Hamilton added to the battery going 2-2, and scoring 2 times, herself. . Gentry Oakley and Bailey Bliven also scored runs for the Mustangs. 
    Leading the team in the circle was 6th grader, Kendall Howard. Kendall pitched a no hitter and struck out a whopping 19 batters. Way to go KENDALL!!
    Hope's defense was stellar on bunt coverages and were focused and ready on each pitch. 
    Congratulations on a great season and for finishing strong, girls! The coaches are so proud of you.
     
    The girls finished 2nd place overall with this win, bringing their record to 9-2 for the season. 
     
    Girls, Remember to turn in your clean uniforms by tomorrow at 3pm or no later than Tuesday at 3pm.

    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for their 5-2 win over rival, AG Cox. The Lady Mustangs executed bunts and baserunning with precision and accuracy.. The team's offense was led by Harper Bradley, Ava Gaddis, Britni Silver (dbl) and Bailey Bliven with 1 hit each.  Bailey had a beautiful "sneaky bunt" that turned into a barrage of Raider errors, allowing her to score an in the park Homerun. Way to go BB!!
    Leading the team's defense in the circle was Kendall Howard. Kendall pitched her first 7 inning, complete game, allowing only 2 hits, while fanning 8. Great Job, Kendall!!
    This brings the team's overall record to 8 and 2. 
    The Lady Mustangs will finish out the season Wednesday, hosting Ayden for this final game.

    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for their 5-4 win over rival AG Cox, today. 
     
    Leading the charge in the circle was Emma Rose and Kendall Hioward. Emma rang up 4 strikeouts, while allowing only 1 hit in the 3 innings she pitched. Kendall came in in relief, striking out an additional 6, while only allowing 3 hits in the 5 innings she pitched. Great JOB, pitchers.!!
     
    Leading the team's offense was: Kendall Howard (1-4), Gentry Oakley (1-4), Lena Zurface ((2-4), Emma Rose (2-4), Finally, getting the walk off single to score Brooke Bundy for the game winning RBI, was Brinley Hamilton. 
     
    Congratulations ladies!! This win brings the team's record to 7-2. The Mustangs will host Ayden again on Wednesday.

    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for their 7-3 win over Ayden Middle. 
     
    Leading the charge in the circle, was Emma Rose and Kendall Howard. Emma rang up 4 strikeouts, while allowing only 5 hits in the 2 2/3 innings she pitched. 
    Kendall came in in relief, striking out an additional 7, while allowing NO hits in the 3 1/3 innings she pitched. Great job pitchers!!
     
    The following players had 1 hit apiece on offense: Harper Bradley, Lena Zurface, Emma Rose (RBI), Kendall Howard (dbl, 2 RBI's), and Brittany Silver with a triple and 3 RBI's.
     
    This win brings the Mustangs record to 6-2. They will face rival AG Cox on Monday at Home. LET"S GO!!

    Congratulations to the Hope softball team as they defeated Greene Co by a score of 21-1. 
     
    Leading the team's defense in the circle was Emma Rose, who had 11 strikeouts in the 4 inning game. 
     
    Leading the Hope offense at the plate with 1 hit each was: Brinley Hamilton and Bailey Bliven; players with 2 hits include Lena Zurface (2-2), Emma Rose (2-2), Kendall Howard (2-3) and Britni Silver (2-3 with a triple); Lastly, the player with 3 hits going 3-3 was Ava Gaddis.
    The win puts the teams record at 4-1 on the season. They host Aycock next Wednesday. 
     
     
    April 21, 2021
    The Hope softball team defeated Chicod today by a score of 11-1, after 5 innings of play. 
     
    Getting the win in the circle for the Mustangs was 6th grade pitcher, Kendall Howard. Kendall allowed NO hits and only had one walk, while striking out 10 of the 15 total outs in the 5 inning game. Contributing to the Mustang offense were the following players, each with 1 hit: Ava Gaddis, Lena Zurface, Gentry Oakley, Britni Silver & Harper Bradley. Leading the charge at the plate was Emma Rose who went 2 for 4. 
     
    This brings the Mustangs record to 3 and 1. They will take on Greene County at home on Wednesday. 
     
     
    April 19, 2021
    The Mustang Softball team lost another close game to PS Jones by a score of 3-4. Leading the team's charge in the circle was Emma Rose and Kendall Howard. The two combined for only 1 walk while allowing only 4 hits. Kendall struck out 5 in the 3 1/3 innings she pitched. 
    Leading Hope's offense was Ava Gaddis (2 for 4), Lena Zurface 2 for 4 and Kenall Howard (1-1). 
    This loss was a game that was an addition to the regular season schedule, so the non-conference game will not affect the team's record or standings. 
    Hope remains 2-0 on the season. The Mustangs will host Chicod at Home on Wednesday.
     
      
    April 14, 2021
    The Hope softball team lost a tough game to PS Jones by a score of 0-3. Emma Rose started in the circle for the Mustangs, pitching 5 complete innings and allowed only 1 hit, while striking out 8. Kendall Howard came in in relief, striking out 5 and not allowing any hits while walking only 2 in the two innings she pitched.  The Mustang had one lone hit late in the game, by Brinley Hamilton. 
    This lost brings Hope's record to 2 and 1. The Lady Mustangs will face PS Jones again on Monday at PSJ. 
     
     
    March 31, 2021
    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for their 15-0 win over Grifton. Getting the win in the circle for the Mustangs was Brinley Hamilton. Brinley had 5 strikeouts in the 2 innings she pitched, while allowing only 2 hits. Emma Rose came in to close out the game striking out 2 of the 3 batters she faced. 
     
    Hope's offense was led by Brinley Hamitlon, Harper Bradley, Ava Gaddis, Britni Silver with a hit a piece.  Kendall Howard, added to the offense with a triple, clearing the loaded bases to score another 3 runs.
     
    This win brings the Lady Mustangs record to 2-0. Their next game will be against PS Jones on Wednesday, April 14th at Hope.
     
     
    March 24, 2021 
    Congratulations to the Hope softball team for their 15-0 win over Farmville Middle School at Farmville yesterday, (3/24). 
     
    Leading the team's offense was Brinley Hamilton (2 for 2), Kendall Howard (3 for 3), and Britni Silver (3 for 4 with her first career Homerun). 
     
    Getting the win in the circle was Kendall Howard who rang up 7 strikeouts while allowing 0 hits and only 2 walks in the 3 innings she pitched. 
     
    With this being the first win, the Lady Mustangs are now 1-0 on the season and will host their first home game on Wednesday against Grifton.
