• 2021 Baseball Announcement

    Sports physicals are required to try out for the team. Physical forms MUST be on the NCHSAA form and should be completed, in its entirety, before turning in to Coach Kirby. Please turn in physical forms as soon as possible so they can be processed prior to tryouts. Anyone without a sport physical on the appropriate forms will not be able to tryout.

    A printable version of this year's physical form can be found below. Hard copies are also available at the front desk or students may pick one up from Coach Kirby. 




    Initial COVID-19 Screening Forms are required to tryout for the team this year. This form should be completed and turned in just prior to tryouts or workouts. A photocopy or scanned copy may be emailed to Coach Kirby no earlier than 3 days before tryouts or workouts. This will help ensure your child is safe to be around others during tryouts.

    May 19th

    Congratulations to the Hope Baseball Team on their season ending 11-1 Victory over Ayden Middle today.  Ethan Medhus got the start on the mound going 4 plus innings allowing 1 run.  James Robinson came in and got the save throwing the 5th inning in a tight 3-1 game with the bases loaded allowing no runs.
    Offensively the bats were on fire. James Robinson, Justin Grimes, Ethan Medhus and Conner Berry all went 2-3 on the day.  Ethan Simmons went 2-4 and Davis Bradley, Parker Whitley Joe May and Owen Simmons all added hits on the day!  The Mustang Baseball team went 10-1 on the year and won the conference for the 2021 season!!!
    Players please turn in your uniform to coach Kirby on Tuesday by 3pm!

    May 17th

    Congratulations to the Hope Baseball Team beating AG COX 13-2 in 5 innings.  Joe May got the start on the mound going 4 innings with 9 Strikeouts!!  James Robinson came in to pitch the last inning allowing no runs on no hits.  Leading the way on the offensive side of the ball was Justin Grimes going 4-4 with 2 doubles and Parker Whitley going 3-3 on the day.  Owen Simmons was 2-4 on the day.  James Robinson, Ethan Simmons, Ethan Medhus and Conner Berry also recorded hits on the day.  In a massive team effort the Hope Mustangs recorded 16 stolen bases on the day!!  The Final game of the season is this wednesday against Ayden!  Please fill the stands to support this team in its final game.  The win pushes the Mustangs to 9-1 overall!


    May 10th

    Congratulations to the Hope Middle School Baseball Team on their 13-1 victory over Wellcome Middle today.  Harrison Corey got the start on the going 2 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 3.  Ethan Medhus came in for relief and pitched the last two innings allowing no runs, no hits, while striking out 4.
    At the plate the Mustangs bats proved to be strong.  Leading the way for the Mustangs was James Robinson going 3-4, Ethan Simmons and Harrison Corey going 2-2, Joe May and Justin Grimes going 2-3 and Parker Whitley going 1-2.  This win moves the Mustangs to 8-1 overall.  The Mustangs are back in action Wednesday as they do battle with Ayden in round two!


    May 6th

    Congratulations to the Hope Mustang Baseball team beating Ayden Middle today by the score of 2-0.  Ethan Medhus started the game on the mound and went 6 innings with NO HITS.  Owen Simmons came in and pitched the 7th getting the save.  The two managed to only give up 1 hit in the shutout!!  Leading the way at the plate for the Mustangs today was Parker Whitley going 2-3.  Others recording hits today were Justin Grimes, Ethan and Owen Simmons, Joe May, Conner Berry, and Ethan Medhus.  This win moves the Mustangs to 7-1 with three games left in the season.  The Mustangs will travel to Wellcome Middle Monday!  


    May 4th

    The Hope Middle School Baseball Team defeated AG COX middle by a score of 6-1 Tuesday.  The Hope Pitchers combined for a 1 hit outing, with Joe May starting the game going 4 innings, James Robinson came in to work the 5th and Owen Simmons followed him to work the 6th and the 7th.  The bats were plentiful today as the Mustangs racked up 12 hits.  Justin Grimes led the way going 3-3, followed up by Joe May going 3-4 with 4 rbi's.  Ethan Medhus also racked up 2 hits.  James Robinson, Owen Simmons, Ethan Simmons, and Harrison Corey each added 1 hit each!  The Mustangs will play Thursday against Ayden Middle at Hope!  Go Mustangs.


    April 28th

    The Hope Middle School Baseball team beat Greene Co today by a score of 10-6.  Mustangs pitchers included Joe May, James Robinson, and Owen Simmons. Owen Simmons pitched two hitless/scoreless innings to close out the game for the Mustangs.  Leading the Mustangs at the plate was Justin Grimes going 2-2, Ethan Simmons going 2-3 and Owen Simmons going 2-4.  Joe May, Ethan Medhus, and Conner Berry also added hits for the Mustangs.  Parker Whitley did a great job behind the plate catching a complete game!  With this win the Mustangs improve to 5-1.  Next game against AG COX next Tuesday!


    April 26th

    The Hope Mustang Baseball Team beat CM Eppes by a score of 18-0 this afternoon.  On the bump, Ethan Medhus and Harrison Corey combined for a no-hitter in the win.  At the plate the entire Mustang team got involved!. Justin Grimes lead the way going 2-2 at the plate along with Owen Simmons going 2-3.  A slew of players went 1-1.  Leading the way on the bases were Ethan Simmons with three stolen bases, along with James Robinson, Justin Grimes, and Parker Whitley with 2 stolen bases each.  The Mustangs will be back in action Wednesday against Greene Co.


    April 21, 2021

    The Hope Baseball team defeated Chicod today by a score of 8-7.  With the score tied 7-7 as time expired we played one extra inning and Harrison Corey got the game winning hit to score Conner Berry, who was pinch running for Parker Whitley.  Leading the way on offense was Ethan Medhus, going 4-4 at the plate, followed by Justin Grimes going 2-4.  Owen Simmons started on the mound throwing 2 ⅓ innings.  He was relieved by Joe May who threw 1 ⅔ inning striking out 5.  James Robinson relieved Joe on the mound throwing the last three innings of the game and getting the win.  Great job to the Mustangs!  The Hope Baseball team will be back in action Monday as the travel to CM EPPES!


    April 19, 2021

    The Mustang Baseball team lost a close one 5-4 to Whitfield Baseball.  With Hope up 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th Whitfield rallied and scored three runs.  Harrison Corey started the game on the mound last 1 ⅔ innings.  Joe May came in and threw the next 5 innings before being relieved by James Robinson in the 7th.  Leading the offense for the Mustangs was Justin Grimes going 3-4 at the plate.  Every Mustang starter recorded a hit on the day!  
    The loss drops the Mustangs to 2-1 on the year.  Hope Baseball will host Chicod Wednesday at 4pm.


    April 14, 2021

    The Hope Mustang Baseball team won 7-1 against PS Jones Middle School.  Owen Simmons and Joe May combined for a no hitter against PS Jones. Owen had 6 strikeouts through 4 innings.  Leading the Mustangs on offense going 1-2 at the plate were James Robinson, Owen Simmons, Justin Grimes, Ethan Medhus.  James Robinson lead the way on the bases with 6 stolen bases followed by Owen Simmons and Justin Grimes with 3 each.  This win moves the Mustangs to 3-0 on the season.  The Hope Mustang Baseball team will face GR Whitfield Monday 4/19!


    March 24, 2021

    Congratulations to the Hope Mustang baseball team on their 11-1 victory over Farmville Middle School yesterday,(3/24) Leading the way with the bats were Parker Whitley 2 for 4, James Robinson 2 for 4, Joe May 2 for 3 and Davis Bradley 2 for 3.  On the mound Joe May got the win throwing 4 innings of 1 run baseball with 5k's.   James Robinson came in to throw the last two innings allowing no runs and striking out 5.

    The Hope Mustang Baseball team is now 1-0 on the season.
