The Mustangs will travel to AG Cox on Monday.March 8, 2023
The Hope Mustangs picked up their first win of the season yesterday with a 10-0 victory over the Cougars of GR Whitfield. The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead scoring nine runs in the first inning. However, the offense went cold over the next three innings, with the Mustangs not scoring their tenth run until the fifth inning.
Leading the way for Mustangs at the plate were Rooke Knittle, Brody Brannon, Gavin Whitley, and Cam Gooding who all collected one hit a piece. Camden Davis also added a Sac Fly RBI to end the game. The story on the day however, came from the starting pitcher for the Mustangs, Aiden Coats. Aiden Coats was phenomenal on the mound throwing a complete game No-Hitter. Aiden's dominant performance was highlighted by 10 strikeouts, 0 runs allowed, while only surrendering two base runners off two walks in the 3rd inning. Aiden was able to keep the bases clear of Cougars every inning, with the exception of the third. The Mustang middle infield helped Aiden as the combination of Harrison Corey and Landon Scott recorded the other five outs of the game. The Diamond Mustangs are off next week for Spring Break and then are on the road for two games the following week at Woodington and Greene County. The Mustangs do not return home to play until March 29th vs EB Aycock. Please come out and support your Mustang baseball team.
