Beach Selected as Director of Career & Technical Education

Kali Beach has been appointed Pitt County Schools Director of Career & Technical Education according to an announcement from Superintendent Dr. Ethan Lenker on Monday.

Beginning August 28, she will assume the duties vacated by Beth Ann Trueblood who recently retired after 29 years of service to the PCS system.

"We are thrilled to have Miss Beach join Pitt County Schools," Assistant Superintendent for Educational Programs & Services Dr. Steve Lassiter said. "The interview committee found her experience and vision for career and technical education in alignment with Pitt County Schools. We know that she will continue to build upon our CTE program and work with community partners who are committed to investing in our students."

Beach most recently served in a similar leadership capacity for Hyde County Schools during the 2022-23 school year. Prior to that post, she coordinated HCS curriculum & instructional management, career development and special populations beginning in 2020. Among her many responsibilities in that role, Beach had oversight of CTE Presentation of Learning (POL) training and state assessment testing while also teaching career development lessons for grades five through 12.

She began her full-time teaching career as an agricultural educator at Columbia (N.C.) High School in 2014 before spending three years at Mattamuskeet (N.C.) Early College High School beginning in 2017, also as an agriculture teacher. Beach played an active role coordinating Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters in both locations with Mattamuskeet earning the FFA Membership Growth Award under her guidance during 2017-18. She also played contributing roles in various school leadership positions such as the safety and hospitality committees, and serving as a beginning teacher mentor.

In addition to hunter education instruction, Beach has certifications as a range safety officer, Microsoft Office specialist and CPR/AED. She also holds licensure as a career development coordinator and as a curriculum & instructional management coordinator.

Beach earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural education (animal science minor) from North Carolina State University in 2012 before following with a master's in agricultural education two years later. While pursuing her latter degree, she served as a graduate assistant in NCSU's Agricultural Institute.
