School Closings and Delays
Adverse weather conditions or other emergencies may require that schools be closed, delayed or release students early. In the event of a closing, delayed opening or early dismissal of school for any reason, Pitt County Schools' (PCS) officials will notify area televisions and radio stations to announce specific details. The PCS website and Information Hotline at (252) 830-3500 will also be updated with the current school closure/delay information.
In addition, parents/guardians and staff members will receive a Blackboard Connect phone call. Blackboard Connect is a notification system that allows our school system to personally communicate with parents about emergency situations, school events, school closings and delays, and important issues facing your school and our school district. It is important that your child’s school has your accurate contact information so that your child does not miss any important announcements.
While keeping in mind the unpredictability of the weather and that forecasts can change quickly, every effort will be made to provide announcements as far in advance as possible so that students, parents and staff can plan accordingly. No announcement means that school will operate on regular schedule.
