    PCS Virtual and Modified Learning - March 30-June 5, 2020


    Following NC Governor Roy Cooper's Executive Order on March 23, extending COVID-19- related school closures to May 15, 2020 (now extended to the end of the school year), Pitt County Schools is presently unable to provide in-person classroom instruction. Beginning on March 30, 2020, teachers will offer online supplemental instruction. Provisions will be made for students with limited access to devices or internet. Students of all levels and abilities will be reached through excellent instruction and educational support. When online access is impossible, comparable paper learning packets will be available upon request. Our purpose is to extend learning and to reach as many students as possible during this unique time. Please note the following:

    • For those without internet access, comparable learning packets can be provided upon request from the student's teacher or home school.  

    • Exceptional Children's staff, school psychologists, school counselors, AIG staff and others will work to provide content and additional support to students with varying abilities.


    Testing, Grading and Student Feedback

    • Pitt County Schools has released a document that explains state regulations about grading policies and how we, as a school system, will implement those policies. Click on this link to see this document for full explanations about how grades will be calculated for the end of the 2020 school year. All PCS and State documents also appear below. 


      End of the 2020 School Year- June 5, 2020

      • Remote delivery of new instructional material ends on May 22 to allow dedicated time for teachers to complete required end-of-year conferences with students and parents, provide student feedback for all work completed before and after the period that remote instruction began, and assess student work and academic growth that occurred during remote instruction. Remote learning will continue with supplemental resources until June 5th, our last student instructional day. A separate page will be available with those resources on our website by May 22, 2020. In the event parents need paper copies of those resources online, they should contact their school. Teachers will remain in contact with families. The last workday for teachers will be June 10, the same date that was scheduled before school buildings were closed for in-person instruction by the Governor. Note: Our two Early Colleges will follow their instructional calendar.
