Pandemic-Electronic Balance Transfer (P-EBT) Eligibility and Free/Reduced Lunch Applications
The USDA has a new program that will help families who have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic called Pandemic- Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT). This P-EBT Program will help families purchase food for their children. Funds will be distributed through the Department of Health and Human Services based on the information our school system provides them.
There are several ways students may receive these benefits.
- First, students are eligible who are enrolled in a school that participates in the National School Lunch Act and receiving Free or Reduced Meal Prices at their school. No application is needed to receive P-EBT benefits.
- Second, if your family already receives Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), also known as SNAP benefits, the funds will be placed on your existing EBT Card.
- Third, now-eligible families, not already receiving SNAP benefits will receive an explanation letter in the mail, followed by a new P-EBT card in the next few weeks.
