NC FARM TO SCHOOL STATEWIDE CALENDAR COMPETITION Grades K-52014 YOUTH EXPRESSIONS ARTS INTEGRATION PROJECT Grades K-12SYSTEMS: CROSSCUTTING CONCEPTS SYSTEMS ART - Systems Art explores the relations between objects, people, ideas and the world. As a result of the Systems project, students discover ways of expressing their understanding about how many "systems" exist in everyday life and how these "systems" directly and indirectly impact people and their quality of life. Students also discover that changing one element in a system can change the whole system in predictable and unpredictable ways. Through the creative process, students gain a deeper understanding of the "systems" they explore and raise awareness of the infinite number of systems impacting life. The Systems exhibit was held at the Greenville Mall April 6-15. Photos are included below.Also, here is a link to a screen shot of E.B. CONGRESSIONAL ART SHOWS Grades 9-12Each year, members of the U.S. House of Representatives, committed to our cultural heritage, join together to recognize the creative spirit of American high school students in a nationwide art competition. This contest, An Artistic Discovery – Congressional Art Competition, is implemented by members of Congress in their respective Congressional Districts and features paintings, drawings, and prints. Each member brings a winning entry back to Washington, D.C. to be displayed in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol. Winning entries from the nationwide competition are exhibited in the Cannon Tunnel of the United States Capitol for one year.
