    Local D H Conley High School Students Place in FBLA Regional Competition

     
    December 12th 2015 FBLA Regional Competition.

     

    D.H Conley High School Students placed in several events at the Regional Competition at Riverside High School.

    First place winners included: Elliot Yates – Business Calculations, Cameron Callahan – Introduction to Business Procedures, Daniel Martinez – Computer Applications, Jason Pilkington – Database Design and Applications, Austin Gates – Spreadsheet Applications, and Ranada Johnson – Word Processing

    Second place winners included: Haroon Dar – Business Communications, Lucas Wiley  – Introduction to Business Procedures, John Wetherington – Database Design and Applications, Nolan Paramore – Future Business Leader, Mark Alloway – Job Interview, Alex Wood – Public Speaking II, Elle Lenker – Spreadsheet Applications, Mackenna Mathias – Word Processing, and Hannah Simpson – Spirit Event T-Shirt Design.

    Third place winners included: Phillip Jackson – Business Calculations, Ethan Bautista and Emma Jane Cole – Spirit Event Cheer/Chant/Slogan.

    Fourth place winners included: Nic Brown – Accounting I, and Mary Beth Cole – Public Speaking I

    Top 10 winners included: Zac Robol and Ethan Bautista - Social Media, Phillip Jackson, Daniel Martinez, and Jason Pilkington - Business Knowledge

    These students are now eligible to compete in their event at the State Level. The Future Business Leaders of America Leadership State Conference will be held March 15-17th in Greensboro.

  • St. Patrick's Day cookies at Ayden-Grifton High School

    Ayden-Grifton students from Susan Jennette's Foods class paired with the AU class to make St. Patrick's Day cookies.  Both groups really enjoyed working with each other.  It was a wonderful experience for all involved.

  • JH Rose CTE students are involved in exciting events

    Mr. Bunn's students have been involved in several exciting activities this semester.  

    Joshua Burney, President of Pitt County's Toast Masters Public Speaking organization, spoke about empowering the youth during one of Mr. Bunn's  "Success-Filled Fridays".

    Students are seen working as a team to see who can produce the strongest and tallest Spaghetti Tower.  This activity introduced the Production Process as a representation of turning raw materials into something useful.  Students are making the spaghetti and marshmallow work for them.

    Terrance Copper, former ECU Alumni and Wide Receiver for the NFL, spoke to Mr. Bunns' Personal Finance class.  Mr. Copper played for the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Mr. Copper talked about goal setting, Career Readiness and how determination and hard work helped him overcome the statistics and make his dream of being an NFL player a reality.

  • JH Rose Health Science students accepted in the RIBN Nursing Program

    Three phenomenal Health Science students at JH Rose High School were recently accepted to the RIBN Nursing Program.  Congratulations to Macy Powers, Miranda Weakly and Maggie White for such a monumental honor and amazing accomplishment.

  • Virtual Reality STEM bus at JH Rose High School

    This morning, students at JH Rose experienced 3D virtual reality at work in real life.  Students were able to pick up a stylus and a pair of glasses and get to work!  Several applications were available including architecture, product design, biology and chemistry.  Each class spent about 20 minutes inside the mobile classroom and experts from zSpace were on hand to show them tips, tricks and explain the processes.
