Online Licensure System
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction moved to an on-line licensure system on August 1, 2015. This new system is accessible to the general public, as well as educators, who will be able to view an educator's license areas and the effective and expiration date of the license.
Educators are able to view more details about their own license than can be viewed by the general public. Educators will have to create an online licensure system account to be able to do this by registering at NCDPI Online Licensure System. *Instructions to Create a Licensure System Account.
Registration begins by clicking on “NCDPI Registration” in the bottom, left corner of your screen. Once the account is created and logged into, the educator can view their license data, as well as open applications for licensure changes, which are submitted directly to the Licensure Section of DPI. Employed educators need to affiliate with the school system that they are currently employed with and will need to maintain this affiliation throughout their employment. *Instructions to Affiliate with Pitt County Schools. All licensure area codes are now 5 digits instead of 6 and an educator's social security number is no longer their licensure number. Licensure numbers are now automatically generated by the online licensure system.
Most applications require an application processing fee. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid through the online licensure system. From the Quick Start Menu, look under “Additional Activities” and click “Select” next to “Make a Payment”.
